THE HISTORY OF EAR CANDLING
This is an ancient and natural therapy handed down by many civilisations.
It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis.
Ear candling reached the modern world with the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona (Hopi means peaceful people). Ancient wall paintings show their importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candles are still made today
using the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians.
YOUR EAR CANDLE TREATMENT
On the day of the treatment, you would be advised not to wear makeup or earrings.
Please mention if you wear contact lenses.
You will be invited to lie comfortably on a therapy couch and may like to take the opportunity to listen to relaxing music.
Angela will begin your ear candling with a face massage using pressure points to make sure you get maximum benefit from your ear candle treatment. After the massage a candle will be placed into the ear and ignited. As the candle burns warm air softens the wax and draws it into the base of the candle.
Whilst the candle is burning a simple Angela will give you a light lymphatic drainage massage to the surrounding area of the ear. When the candle has burnt down it will
be removed and the treatment is then repeated with a new candle on the other ear.
After the ear candle treatment, a final face massage is carried out, paying particular attention to the sinus areas.
Following your treatment you will be encouraged to drink water as this assists the detoxifying process.
For most people a course of 3-4 treatments is necessary to clear most problems with either a week or more between treatments.
Treatment is not advised if grommets are in place, if the eardrum is currently perforated or if an ear is infection is present.
Angela can be prescribe Homœopathic remedies along side ear candles to assist with sinus problems, glue ear or tinnitus.
Testimonial- ‘ I work in a stone quarry and have to wear ear muffs to protect my ears, they get very itchy. I used to use cotton buds to get to the itching but was told this could injure my ear drum. I started having regular treatments every six weeks. The itchiness then goes away. I find it relaxes me as well and clears my ears.’
